Odd Lots: Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark's "Fake Estates" "Odd Lots" will be produced in conjunction with the New York non-profit exhibition venue White Columns and the Queens Museum of Art. For its “Property” issue, Cabinet licensed ten slivers of land in Queens, New York. Originally part of Gordon Matta-Clark’s 1973-74 artwork Reality Properties: Fake Estates, these improbably shaped and economically worthless plots of land originally came into being because of surveyors’ errors. Cabinet and its partners are currently developing a group show that elicits contemporary responses to Matta-Clark’s original piece and to the plots of land now administered by Cabinet. The exhibition, which will be accompanied by a publication, will take place at White Columns and Queens Museum of Art simultaneously. Dates: Sep 9: Show opens at White Columns (closes on 15 October 2005 Sep 11: Show opens at Queens Museum of Art (closes on 22 January 2006) Confirmed artists: Francis Alÿs, Jimbo Blachly, Isidro Blasco, Jaime Davidovich, Mark Dion, Max Goldfarb, Valerie Hegarty, Julia Mandle, Helen Mirra, Matthew Northridge, Dennis Oppenheim, Sarah Oppenheimer, Dan Price, Lisa Sigal, Katrin Sigurdardottir, Jane South, Jude Tallichet, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, and Clara Williams The exhibition is co-curated by Cabinet editors Jeffrey Kastner, Sina Najafi, and Frances Richard.
