Cabinet and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics at the New School co-presented “The Last Supper,” a screening of a new documentary by Mats Bigert and Lars Bergström on the historical practice of allowing prisoners who are about to be executed to have a final meal of their choosing. The one-hour documentary, broadcast on Swedish television and screened in competition at the 2005 International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, was followed by a panel. Mats Bigert was present, as will Brian Price, a former prisoner who has cooked 218 last suppers in US prisons, and New School professor Terri Gordon. Gordon's lecture is available here.
